BHI Travel Health Cork

Services: Post-travel consultation

BHI offers post-travel health checks for returned travellers. A significant number of international travellers have travel-related illnesses. Most of these illnesses are mild but 1 to 5% of travellers become sick enough to seek medical care. Adventure travellers, people visiting friends or relatives, and people with underlying immune-compromised status are at increased risk.

It is advisable to have a medical examination on returning from the trip if you become unwell once you have returned, particularly if you experience any of the following symtoms:

  • fever
  • unexplained weight loss
  • persistent headaches
  • diarrhea
  • bloody stools
  • vomiting
  • jaundice
  • skin diseases
  • genital infections
