Food-borne diseases
We have all heard stories of the dangers eating food in foreign countries can cause. Follow these simple steps to help protect yourself:
- Eat roasting hot food where possible
- Spicy foods do not lessen the risk of contamination!
- Don't eat cold foods
- avoid salads, particularly lettuce
- Never eat undercooked shellfish
(mussels, oysters, clams, prawns etc)
- Ensure that meat dishes are well cooked
- Eat fruit that you can peel yourself
(oranges, bananas etc)
- Don't eat food from street vendors
- Eat in busy, clean restaurants
- Wash you hands before you eat and stick with food you recognise.
